Japanese animation studios are similar to US animation studios. Each studio specializes in a specific kind of content. For example, Universal Animation with South Park their focus is to make adult content while Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network make child friendly content. Japan animation studios works similar but not in the sense of the content but the animation styles and manga or stories they choose to animate. As you will see Kyoto Animation makes a majority drama or slice of life (a “slice” of the main character’s life) shows while Studio Trigger goes all in on action with over the top everything. It does not always mean that one studio can only make one genre of work, but they usually make that kind of work. I just discuss just seven studios here but there are hundreds more, each with their own audience and their own style of animating.

Hopefully going through all the studio pages if you were not a fan before you might become one.
And if not a fan, hopefully I can show off their amazing art!
